Manual de Despiece, 2025/ solo show selection , Galeria LaSala
PARTS MANUAL is based on documents that illustrate how the parts of an object are assembled and are used in maintenance manuals. This concept is applied to human relationships, raising questions about reconnection and emotional healing, even though there is no clear manual for it.
Disassembling a machine becomes an exercise in self-dismantling. By disassembling and reassembling cars or motorcycles, the artist rediscovers their missing pieces, the unfinished nature of their presence. In the quest to recognize the pieces and reassemble the vehicle, it becomes clear that each fragment has a unique place and that, without one of them, the fragility of the mechanism becomes evident.
The artist Felipe Achondo draws inspiration from his passion for engines, which led him to create a series of works in a creative process that has lasted four years. This series includes 14 oil paintings, 10 mixed-media drawings, and 10 sculptures, highlighting the human figure as a central element. “I remembered the manual because of my love for motorcycles and cars. The freedom of riding them, the peace and tranquility I find in working on them. THAT IS MY MANUAL.”
The drawings combine photographs and detailed views of engines, offering a personal narrative. The exhibition includes car mirrors that symbolize leaving the past behind and focusing on the future. The paintings evoke experiences defined by motorsports, showing that art is a path to freedom and a unique form of creation. Thus, the Parts Manual is understood as an intersection between art and mechanics.
"The machine is not the end, but the vehicle to achieve a state of intensity that only movement can provide."
"Dissecting space: the anatomy of the inert."
